Troop 958 of the Old Hickory Council is chartered through St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. We are currently the only Catholic troop in Winston-Salem. We were first chartered in the early 1940s. Our troop aims to go camping or an outdoor activity at least once a month. We are fortunate to be located close to many beautiful State and National Parks and also to have one of our nation's finest boy scout camps, Camp Raven Knob, less than an hour away.
Each year our troop participates in our local Piedmont District Camporee, the Catholic Camporee for the Diocese of Charlotte, a week of Summer Camp at Raven Knob, the district merit badge college weekend and Scouting for food. Additionally the troop plans several other trips based on the interests of the boys. All our activities are fun and also geared towards helping the boys achieve their goals of earning requirements for rank advancement and working towards earning merit badges. We also have strong ties with Cub Scout Pack 721.
